Tasting notes
| Clear dark gold. Lively bubbles on first pouring which faded quite quickly, end of the bottle much less bubbly in the glass with only a faint spritz on the tongue. Nose is honeyed and full of marzipan and caramel. Palate follows, but bone dry, not at all sweet as the nose would perhaps suggest. A touch of lemon zest and apple behind the marzipan. Medium(-) acid, but not flabby, still surprisingly fresh for a wine of this age. Finish medium length and slightly like an amontillado sherry. |
