Clear pale gold. Nose has a little baked apple and pastry, but more prominent notes of toast, hazelnuts and struck match. Light-ish body, palate has lost most of its fruit although a little lemon persists. The flinty matchstick character comes through well though and combines nicely with the mouthwatering acid. Finish is long and consistent with palate. Took a while to open up, a bit thin at first but improved considerably after a couple of hours. Drink the rest of this soon, though, as it doesn't feel like it's going anywhere. |
