Clear pale gold. Medium(+) intensity nose, very buttery, brioche, apple pie, custard. Perhaps a faint savoury note - enoki mushrooms? Palate very broad, medium(+) body, oats, cream, peaches, apple pie and custard returning from nose. Very opulent, big and round flavours, offset by a nice acidity - very good balance. Long finish too. Much bigger than a typical Fichet Meursault, definitely the other end of the scale from his mineral style - graceful despite its weight but I prefer his more mineral and restrained wines. Perhaps we drank this a little young and it would benefit from some time in bottle, will be interesting to see how the 2017s develop. |
